Bae Hee-Boon
Abstract
Objectives: This study examined the moderating effect of disability acceptance in the relationships between parenting stress and depression.

Methods:A total of 195 questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS 25.0 by collecting data on mothers with autism spectrum disorders aged 1 to 19.

Results:The moderating effect of disability acceptance was significant in the relationship between parenting stress and depression of mothers with autism spectrum disorder.

Conclusions:This study is meaningful in that it is important for mothers to accept their children¡¯s disabilities in order to reduce the influence of childcare stress caused by their children¡¯s autism disorder on the psychological difficulties of depression. This could be used as a foundation for developing counseling and education programs for mothers with children with autism spectrum disorders.
